The dial of this watch is a piece from the Muonionalusta meteorite, believed to be 4.5 billion years old. Recovered from along the border of Finland and Sweden, the patterns on this dial are formed by the slow cooling of Nickel-Iron crystals over millions of years in space. This pattern is impossible to reproduce on earth, so no two dials are alike. Yours is truly unique. What better way to celebrate the Indian space program's five decades?

The Extraterrestrial II’s case is made of Cerasteel™ - a new material formed by a Unibody case built from high-grade steel, with an outer Ceramic coating. The matte grey of the case maintains the avant-garde design and look of the watch.

The foundations of the Indian space program were laid atop bullock-carts and bicycles, but with huge ambitions. The space program started amidst a harsh economic climate in the late 1960s. In just over fifty years, India is now part of - only a handful of - space-faring nations in the world.

The unique case shape is inspired by a pebble stone – found ubiquitously in the Indian outdoors, the pebble case takes the most organic shape for a watch. With a lug-less design, the case sits perfectly in both smaller and larger wrist sizes, while the Superdome sapphire crystal brings the watch internals to life.

The highlight of the Agumbe is the deep-green dial colour. With a brilliant sunburst pattern, and large diver-style applied indices filled with a generous dose of Swiss BGW9 Super-Luminova®, visibility is best in every light. The dial’s sunburst pattern is carefully coated with several layers of lacquer to give it added lustre, while the deep-green colour is a nod to the rainforests.

A specially designed index at 9H showcases a tree icon - depicting the forests, while the one at 3H showcases a wave pattern, symbolising the oceans. Both the indices are filled with Super-Luminova® and make for a brilliant blue hologram in the dark.

Paired with a brand new BWC signature Fluoroelastomer (FKM) high-density rubber strap, and 200 Meters of watertightness, the Peninsula Agumbe is your go-to choice for a monsoon trip to the jungles.

180 million years ago, an ancient supercontinent began to break apart. The giant landmass gradually moved and ended in a monumental collision that created the Himalayas 50 million years ago – the youngest, highest mountains in the world.

As the Himalayas rose in the north, a southern peninsula formed. A mountain range along the west coast with rich rainforests and endemic species. Another along the east coast housing unique ecosystems. Between them, the Deccan Plateau - rich in volcanic minerals and rivers flowing eastward to the Bay of Bengal, with incredible biodiversity.

India's beauty lies in its diverse landscapes: from Goa and Kerala's tropical beaches to Rajasthan's arid deserts, the Western Ghats' dense forests, and the Nilgiris' rolling hills. Boasting a 7,500-kilometre coastline with serene beaches, mangroves, and corals.

Apogee Manzinus II celebrates the Indian Space Program's Moon Landing.

The highlight is a 9mm disc made of a Muonionalusta meteorite neatly placed at the 6H position. This rock is believed to be 4.5 billion years old and was recovered from the border of Finland and Sweden. The unique patterns formed on the rock's face by a slow cooling process of Nickel-Iron crystals in Space are irreproducible on Earth. The disc mimics a full moon, each dial disc with its own pattern and striations, making each watch unique and your own.

The Manzinus II’s case is made of a black-coloured Cerasteel™ - a new material formed by a Unibody case built from high-grade steel, with an outer Ceramic coating in a dark black colour.

Our Moon’s polar craters like the Manzinus have been in perpetual darkness for billions of years. They are known to contain frozen water. The matte black case and dial of the Manzinus depict the dark depths of the Moon’s polar craters.

The two steel crowns and a polished steel caseback make the otherwise matte case surface stand out. With a 100M water-tight case and a highly accurate Swiss automatic movement, the Manzinus checks all the boxes for a sporty, casual, and futuristic watch with an incredible backstory from the Indian space program that is sure to be the conversation piece of your group.

BACKSTORY OF THIS WATCH:

On the 23rd of August 2023, a little after 6 p.m., ISRO's Chandrayaan 3 mission made history. The Vikram lander touched down on the South Pole of the Moon - the first country to do so.

This story is not just a year old but starts in the 1960s - it was a decade of the Space Race. Powerful nations competed for supremacy in the Cosmos.

The Gemini, Soyuz, and Apollo missions put people in space and brought them back home safely. It was a technological leap for humans that inspired generations of scientists, engineers, and explorers.

ISRO’s Moon ambitions started in the year 2000 with the National Lunar Mission Task Force. In October 2008, a PSLV-XL rocket blasted off from Sriharikota to travel 384,000 KM to the moon carrying an Orbiter and an Impact probe - this was Chandrayaan-1.

ISRO had a disadvantage - they did not have a rocket as powerful as NASA to send a rocket on a straight path to the moon. While the Apollo mission took 4 days to reach the Moon, the ISRO mission took 21 days. ISRO’s PSLV used Earth’s gravity to slingshot its way to the Moon in the absence of a powerful rocket.

As Chandrayaan-1 orbited the Moon, it confirmed the presence of water ice on the polar craters of the Moon. 11 years later in 2019, Chandrayaan-2 launched with greater ambitions. Not just to orbit the moon, but to put a lander on the surface, and a rover to explore. And it all came together with the soft landing in August 2023.

India’s Moon missions are a demonstration of ISRO’s ingenuity. It has inspired millions of young people to look up and aspire. The Apogee Manzinus II is a watch named after the Primary landing site of the Chandrayaan mission on the South pole of the Moon - the Manzinus Crater.

Since 2021, we have been working on a proprietary coating technology. The objective was to achieve a case finishing that would offer the robustness of high-grade steel, adding a level of surface hardness, and aesthetic qualities like colour and surface finishing. The result of this experiment is a unique combination of a steel inner core with a Cerakote application that is unique in terms of colour, application thickness, and the application environment of heat and humidity. This new material is rated for 9H hardness in the pencil hardness test and allows us to offer cases in a variety of colour choices. We are calling this material Cerasteel™.

Designed along the lines of German Flieger B-Uhr or \"Type B Flieger\", the MACH 1C proudly carries the Indian Air Force fin-flash at the 9H position, a MiG afterburner inspired winding crown, cockpit inspired numerals made of 3D Swiss superluminova for excellent nigh-time visibility, and an engraving of MiGs flying in formation on the caseback.

BACKSTORY OF THIS WATCH:

In December 1971, the Bangladesh liberation movement in East Pakistan was at its peak. The enemy Air Force launched pre-emptive strikes on Indian Air Force bases in the Western and Eastern fronts. It was during these crucial times that the MiG 21 FL Type 77 (NATO Codename FISHBED) played a critical role in defending India's airspace. Type 77 was the first supersonic fighter jet of the IAF to be built in India by HAL. It created an air-superiority umbrella so fierce that the enemy Air Force was forced to ground their planes. After serving the IAF for five decades, the MiG 21 Type 77 retired in 2013. The MACH 1 Collection pays tribute to this iconic plane.

BACKSTORY OF THIS WATCH:

Nestled in the icy embrace of the Himalayas lies an airstrip known only to the most intrepid of aviators. Located along the eastern Karakoram range at an altitude of 6000 meters, where the air is thin, and the chill bites to the bone, the Siachen Glacier is a dare to even the most experienced aviators.

It evokes a vision of towering peaks and a frozen expanse reflecting the spirit of endurance and resilience required to not just thrive in such a harsh environment but to fly helicopters routinely in and out of the challenging environment.

Legend has it that a few brave pilots landed Chetak helicopters during a 1978 operation to airlift personnel and support packages at these high altitudes. From that moment on till date, high-altitude helicopter flying is a challenge only a few dare to take on.

The Karman Line is a limited edition of 50 watches built to celebrate a milestone in the history of Bangalore Watch Company™. With this project, the Apogee Collection is now qualified for Space.

Each uniquely numbered limited edition watch contains cases made of our proprietary Cerasteel™ material - this time with an intense black colour that mimics the nothingness of Space.

The dials are crafted out of a Rare Muonionalusta Meteorite, with an intense Blue PVD treatment. This blue represents the Earth's horizon and the intense blue light that the original watch witnessed during its Spaceflight. The Meteorite's Windmanstatten pattern makes for a unique watch, no two watches will be alike.

On a cold April morning in 1961, at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, 27-year-old Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin boarded a cramped cockpit of the Vostok 3KA capsule. That morning, he will become the first human to travel to Space.

Since then, Human Spaceflight has been an undeniable fascination. It represents our collective curiosity towards Space, and our innate desire to explore the unknown.

We launched the Apogee collection in 2021 to celebrate stories from the Indian space program. In the past three years, the Apogee has taken on the moniker of The Indian Space Watch.

The Karman Line Project is a 2-year effort to push the Apogee beyond just being inspired by Space.

In early 2024, a high-altitude hydrogen balloon carried a specially designed carbon-fibre spacecraft that contained a payload of an Apogee watch. The payload was carried 35 Kilometers on a Stratospheric flight - 114,000 feet into the atmosphere, almost four times higher than Mount Everest and three times higher than any commercial flight.

The watch was not in a pressurised container, but rather exposed to the harsh environment outside: -60 degrees Celsius, complete vacuum, no oxygen, no atmosphere, and extreme velocity upon re-entry back to Earth. Multiple 4K cameras captured the entire flight duration while the watch was safely returned to Earth using a controlled descent parachute.

This watch survived!

The watch kept accurate time throughout the Spaceflight, there was no condensation or other issues observed. The watch passed with flying colours despite the intense pressure and temperature changes during its journey to Space and return to Earth.

With this project, the Apogee joins a small league of watches worldwide that are not just Space-inspired, but Space-qualified.

Imagine a star several times larger than our Sun, collapsing in less than 15 seconds to mere nothingness. The blinding light of this Supernova explosion is some of the brightest light humans will ever see. The Green fumé dial of this model is inspired by this rare cosmic event.

Fumé dials are a rarity, you'll find yourself peering into this dial often. This fumé pattern starts with a deep-green colour graduating towards the outer edge and turning black. There is also a mild sunray pattern on the dial that makes for excellent light-play on the dial in different lighting conditions, making for an entertaining watch to wear.

The Supernova's case is made of Cerasteel™ - a new material formed by a Unibody case built from high-grade steel, with an outer Ceramic coating. The matte grey of the case maintains the avant-garde design and look of the watch.

The two steel crowns and a polished steel caseback make the otherwise matte case surface stand out. In the year 1936, 21-year-old Sarla Thukral entered the cockpit of a Gipsy Moth aircraft wearing a Saree. It was a small trainer aircraft with a spirited engine. That morning, Mrs. Thukral would complete her first solo, making her the first Indian woman to acquire a flying license.

In the mid-century, Aviation was an uncommon career choice for women in India. The economic liberalization in the 1980s brought a cultural shift for more women enrolling in aviation careers in not just flight roles, but ground staff, flight-attendants, engineering, and air-traffic control.

The MACH 1 Admiral is produced as a limited edition of 70 uniquely numbered pieces, in collaboration with HEFTY Art. Each of the 70 watches will be paired with a Digital NFT that will guarantee the authenticity and the provenance of the watch for future transfers of ownership.

Admiral brings a brand new story to the MACH 1 collection and a watch that brings to life a relic from Indian Naval Aviation. The Admiral is built on the MACH 1 platform but contains a dial made of Steel recovered from the INS Vikrant R11 that served the Indian Navy and was scrapped in 2014.

The grey-coloured dial is reminiscent of the hull of the Aircraft Carrier. At the 9H position, is a motif that resembles the Starboard side view of the INS Vikrant R11. The blue hour markers and the blue tip of the seconds hand is a reminder of the high seas protected by the ship.

With a caseback decorated with artwork depicting the anchor chain of the warship, the MACH 1 Admiral makes for a collector's item that will last you a lifetime and is sure to be a conversation piece in your social interactions.

BACKSTORY OF THIS WATCH:

The INS Vikrant R11 was a Majestic-Class Aircraft Carrier of the Indian Navy. It was inducted into the Indian Navy in 1961. The 19,500-tonne Aircraft carrier was the first of its kind for an Asian country at the time.

The warship saw combat action in two successive sprints. First in the Operations of Goa’s Liberation in 1961, and then in the Bangladesh Liberation Campaign in 1971. The Vikrant enforced a Naval blockade in December 1971 that led to a key victory for India in the Eastern Theatre. In 1984, the INS Vikrant was refitted to take on Sea Harrier fighter jets to support V/STOL (Vertical/Short take-off and landing).

After serving in the Indian Navy for 36 years, it was decommissioned in January 1997. The INS Vikrant inspired millions by being preserved as a Museum ship in Mumbai’s Naval docks. It was later scrapped in November 2014. In 2022, the Indian Navy commissioned its first-ever Indigenous Aircraft Carrier named IAC Vikrant in honour of its predecessor.

The 1960s was a decade of the Space Race. Powerful nations competed for supremacy in the Cosmos.

The Gemini, Soyuz, and Apollo missions put people in space and brought them back home safely. It was a technological leap for humans that inspired generations of scientists, engineers, and explorers.

As Chandrayaan-1 orbited the Moon, it confirmed the presence of water ice on the polar craters of the Moon.

11 years later in 2019, Chandrayaan-2 launched with greater ambitions. Not just to orbit the moon, but to put a lander on the surface, and a rover to explore.

India’s Moon missions are a demonstration of ISRO’s ingenuity. It has inspired millions of young people to look up and aspire.

About Cerasteel™

Since 2021, we have been working on a proprietary coating technology. The objective was to achieve a case finishing that will offer the robustness of high-grade steel, adding a level of surface hardness, and aesthetic qualities like colour and surface finishing. The result of this experiment is a unique combination of a steel inner core with a Cerakote application that is unique in terms of colour, application thickness, and the application environment of heat and humidity. This new material is rated for 9H hardness in the pencil hardness test and allows us to offer cases in a variety of colour choices. We are calling this material Cerasteel™.
