How your Clamp Hand Dyed Kaftan is made
\n\n
Fabric Preparation – The modal silk fabric is first washed and soaked to remove any starch, so it absorbs dye beautifully.
\nFolding & Clamping – The fabric is carefully folded in different patterns, then sandwiched between wooden blocks or clamps to create resist areas.
\nDyeing – The folded fabric is dipped into our AZO-FREE chemical-safe dyes ( in rich violet tones). The clamped areas resist the dye, leaving behind striking geometric designs, it's just beautiful to see this.
\nUnfolding & Drying – Once dyed, the clamps are removed to reveal bold, unique patterns. The fabric is then dried naturally out on the fields.
\nFinishing – The dyed fabric is tailored into the flowing kaftan silhouette with adjustable drawstrings for comfort and fit.
\nThis process takes 2–3 weeks, making our Clamp Hand Dyed dress a true labour of love, hardwork and tradition.
